INDIVIDUAL SERVICES
Educational Therapy is designed to help students
with learning disabilities and other learning challenges build
skills and use appropriate learning strategies essential to
school success. The Educational Therapist (ET), uses information
provided by the parent, previous assessments if available,
observes how the student approaches learning tasks, determines
areas of strengths and weaknesses, and identifies missing
skills. The ET also fosters positive social/emotional functioning
required for learning. An individualized learning plan,
based on this information, is written. Parental input into
the development of the plan is encouraged and appreciated.
Written progress reports are provided on a regular
basis and our staff is available to work cooperatively with
other professionals who assist the student. Services are generally
available at the center and may also be provided at the student’s
home or school. There is an additional fee for offsite services.
Rate: Educational Therapy $90.00 per hour
Homework Assistants offer students guidance and support
to complete homework assignments, reports and to study for
tests. Homework Assistants help students plan efficient work
schedules, provide tips on improved study techniques, check
work for accuracy and monitor student understanding of concepts.
Homework Assistants are not credentialed teachers and cannot
develop curriculum for students. No written progress reports
are provided. Services are generally available at the center
and may also be provided at the student’s home or school.
There is an additional fee for offsite services.

EDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENT SERVICES
The Frostig Center is committed to offering high quality
services that reflect our interdisciplinary approach and whole-child
philosophy. Our goal for all assessment services is to provide
meaningful information with respect to school placement, support
services and life goals.
Focused Academic Assessment evaluates a specific
area of learning such as math or reading and usually precedes
Educational Therapy. It is designed to determine the academic
learning needs of a child, understand possible explanations
for a child’s performance, and facilitate development
of interventions. The Focused Academic Assessment includes
2-3 hours of focused assessment, a review of the application,
previous assessments, and the ANSER System Questionnaire completed
by the parent and teacher. A feedback summary will be given
during the regular educational tutoring time with a written
summary provided to both parents and Educational Therapist.
Rate: $400 - $600
Educational Assessment evaluates academic skills
and learning styles. Through formal assessment we determine
how the student responds to various instructional techniques.
Assessment provides insight into the manner in which the student
understands and remembers information, helping the client
and adults who work with him or her to develop more efficient
and effective learning/teaching methods.
An Educational Assessment is an efficient way of answering
most educational questions, but does not include
the psychological and intelligence testing needed to determine
whether or not the student has a learning disability.
First, the application, previous assessments, and the ANSER
System Questionnaire completed by the parent and teacher is
reviewed. A series of Testing Sessions are then scheduled
with the client totaling approximately four to six hours.
A Feedback Appointment is held to review the findings
and recommendations. A Written Summary is also given
at this time.
Rate: $900.00
SUMMER WORKSHOPS
Summer Workshops provide academic support in reading,
writing, mathematics and study skills. This six-week program
offers a small class size (eight students) which allows our
staff to develop a friendly, supportive learning environment
and give your child personal attention. Workshops begin in
late June and end in early August. Workshop classes are taught
by credentialed teachers who recognize and understand factors
that interfere with learning.
Workshops are designed for students who have a cooperative
attitude, good citizenship skills and a desire to do
better in school.
