June 22 through July 31, 2009
For 20 years, Frostig Summer Workshops have helped students who struggle in school learn that being in a classroom can be a positive experience. Our affirmative learning philosophy is based on the following principles:
- We teach children - not just subjects!
Our workshops engage students in the learning process by providing just the right climate for learning: a supportive atmosphere, meaningful curriculum, and teachers who care.
- We give more personal attention
With an 9:1 student-teacher ratio in each class, there is time for the teacher to get to know and understand your child's special learning needs. Our teachers work to find the key that unlocks the door to each child's enthusiasm and desire to learn.
- We boost self-confidence and develop learning skills
And when a student struggles with learning usually the last thing they want is to spend the summer in a classroom, but by boosting their confidence and building their skills, students return to their regular schools in September knowing they really can learn.
Enrollment Deadline The deadline to apply is Friday May 2, 2008. After May 2nd, a late registration fee of $25.00 will apply.
Supervised Lunch Period Available for students enrolled in both morning and afternoon workshops. Students must provide their own sack lunch. Lunch for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday students is from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m.
Consecutive Classes If a student is signing up for more than one class, the classes must be in consecutive order, in other, words back to back.
Fourth of July There are no classes on Wednesday, July 4th.
Educational Therapy is designed to help students with learning disabilities and other learning challenges build skills and use appropriate learning strategies essential to school success. The Educational Therapist (ET), uses information provided by the parent (including previous testing and assessments if available), observes how the student approaches learning tasks, determines areas of strengths and weaknesses, and identifies missing skills in the areas of reading, written language and math.
Students taking individual Educational Therapy do not have to be taking other workshops; however, if they are, we try to schedule around your child's first or last class. Neither credit nor make-up sessions are given for missed appointments, unless prearranged. Call for details and scheduling. We welcome high school students.
